Prep Cook / Baker’s Assistant
This is a part time (30 hours per week) daytime position. Tuesday – Saturday, 8AM – 2PM
The Prep / Baker’s Assistant position is a very important position at the bakery. This person is responsible for keeping the bakery equipment spotless, preparing and scaling all ingredients for the next morning’s bread production, feeding sourdough starters and mixing our bun doughs and sweet doughs. The Prep person is also responsible for ensuring our ingredients are all in stock so we don’t run out of eggs or butter right when we need them.
This position is somewhat physically demanding. You will need to be able to handle a 20kg sack of flour or a 10kg tub of bread dough. The job also requires you to be on your feet all day.
You’ll need to be accurate with measuring ingredients, thorough with your mixes and precise with your portioning.
Experience in other baking / food preparation roles is an asset. So is education like the provincial food safety course or a Pastry Arts certificate. However, this is an entry level position so we will provide training as needed.

Bread Baker
Bread is the heart and soul of our bakery and it takes a special person to work on the bread bench at Orange Boot. We are looking for an experienced bread baker to join our morning production team.
Bakers at Orange Boot are responsible for the creation of our baked goods from start to finish – scaling and preparing ingredients, mixing dough and batters, hand shaping bread and managing the ovens.
This position requires a Baking / Pastry Arts degree with a focus on bread production, or a minimum one year’s experience in a professional bakery. If you want to push the limits of your craft, please come see us.
Bakers must be able to lift and handle 20kg flour sacks and dough tubs weighing maximum 25kg.
Bread Bakers at Orange Boot Bakery work Tuesday – Saturday with our shift starting at 2AM – 3:30AM depending on the day. This is a full time (40 hours per week) position.
