The Bakery

Welcome Home.

Orange Boot Bakery is a warm, friendly neighbourhood bakery, where you can come in anytime and see the bakers at work. We’re approachable. We really want you to feel comfortable about what you’re eating, whether you’re interested in the nitty gritty details or just want another Cheese Bun.

We use classic ingredients, just like what we used when we baked with our Aunt or Grandmother. Heck, if you want to take credit for baking this yourself, we won’t mind!

And we’ll stand behind our baking — our bakers and staff are available to answer any questions you have, whether it’s about ingredients or to recommend the best loaf to go with your BBQ pork or famouse chili.

Buy Fresh. Buy Local.

We bake everything from scratch. Every day.

We use untreated, locally grown flour, cereals and grains in all our baking.   Most of our flour is organic and milled right here in Saskatchewan too. If we live in the Bread Basket of the World (as Mark was taught in school), then we want to bake with grain right from the middle of the basket, so to speak.

Flour. Water. Salt.

We use simple, high quality ingredients. But that doesn’t mean we make simple bread. We’re obsessed with extracting the ultimate flavour from the wheat and using traditional techniques to improve flavour and extend shelf life.

A great many of our breads use natural “wild yeast” fermentation. In North America that’s known as sourdough bread, although our loaves are anything but sour. Our bakers closely control temperature and fermentation times to develop deep, complex flavours that are unique to Saskatchewan and our flour.

Classic Recipes. Home Made Flavour.

While Mark was learning to make dough standing beside his Grandma Silverson (her perogie dough was legendary), Cindy was baking cookies and muffins with her mom and turnovers with her Grandma T. Then she baked cookies with Ben and Robyn when they were small and kept baking at every bake sale in the neighbourhood.

Orange Boot baking is based on classic recipes from our childhood. We don’t use some specialty shortening “designed for the baking industry.” We use butter. Raisins. Walnuts. Chocolate Chips. Cheese. Just not all together.

Stand Up For Great Bread!

We’re on a bit of a quest here and would love it if you joined us.  Sign up for our Bootnik email list and we’ll keep you up to date on new menu items, special baking, events and more!

Or if you’re not quite ready for an email relationship, just come on down to the bakery at 3904 Gordon Road in Regina, Saskatchewan and say hi.  We’d love to meet you!
